It isn’t always serious, but being Spanish has often made me a target of stereotyping, on the basis of my accent and the prejudice that I am a football lover. Well, it is true that I have an accent that is typical of all the Spanish people, but it isn’t something I chose on purpose, as it has been only a few years that I have shifted base to America. Also, since Madrid and football are synonymous, people take it as a default that I am into football, whereas I am more a water sports person, so swimming is my thing. It hasn’t ever been a stereotyping that has hurt me, but to be honest, I am actually bored with the categorization because I am from Spain.
